    calumdoris:

Tonight I read that Thrice are going on hiatus sometime in the new year, I thought to myself ‘Fuck.’

It took me a while before I realised that Thrice were actually my favourite band, I’ve loved and grown up with each album.  They have been a constant throughout most of my adult life.  Their songs really strike something inside me, and to think that I won’t hear the next evolution of Teppei’s guitar tone, or Dustin’s thought provoking lyrics and rough vocals - or even see them play live again really made me sad.

I’ve loved bands before and had the grief of them splitting up or listening to that awful album they never should have made, but I feel like Thrice taking this hiatus really has shook me because they are a band that i’ve grown up with.  When I was 16 I imagined myself listening to The Artist in the Ambulance forever.

I’m sure that whatever they do next in life will be the right thing for them, I’ll never forget the time we played with them when I was 18 (I fell over the drumkit on stage and was heckled for looking like a 60 year old), or the time I hung out with them in Nice n’ Sleazys and couldn’t find a word to say from being so starstruck.  In the meantime I will always cherish the songs they have written and play them loudly to kids and tell them all about one of my favourite bands.

Thrice are absolutely one of the best bands ever.  No matter what, we’ll always listen to them.
