GOODBYE TO A FRIEND, CALUM DORIS

Unfortunately we have to announce the departure of our friend & brother, Calum Doris.  We wish him all the best for whatever his future holds.  The following is from Calum:

My name is Calum Doris, I turn twenty-five on sunday and I recently chose to leave the only musical venture i’ve ever known - playing guitar in a band called Flood of Red with some of my best friends for almost ten years.

I can’t say that leaving was a decision that was easy, but it was a decision that I came to after thinking a lot about the way things in my life have changed over the last two years.  I just couldn’t feel productive, which in turn made me really upset and caused a friction between my brothers and my own conscience.

I can’t remember what it was I was expecting when I asked Graham if he wanted to be in a band. We were 14 years old, we had no idea what would happen.  We’ve grown up, stuck it out and experienced some of the most unexpected things life has thrown our way.

I was so lucky in this band, making & playing music, meeting different people and seeing different parts of the world I could have only have imagined to visit.  I won’t ever forget those experiences, feelings, moments and music.

I owe a lot to everyone I have met through playing in Flood of Red.  I have made some unforgettable friends.  I plan on continuing to make music, only now again I have no idea what I’m expecting.  A new adventure waits for me.

I cannot say thank you enough to my mother, father, sister, family & close friends for being so much more than supportive.  Thank you to everyone and anyone who ever gave me the opportunity to play my guitar in front of you - I will honestly never forget the amazing adventure I had growing up in Flood of Red.

To my brothers Jordan Spiers, Graham Griffith, Dale Gallacher, Sean McGroarty, Jonathan Snee & Jim McGowan.  I have known nothing but true friendship since we met and I will always be thankful to have shared so much with you.

Thank you for your time,

Calum Doris

Thank you for always supporting the people and passion in this band.  We will see you soon! x
